VS8053 is a laser fused version of the VS1053 device. The laser fusing disables codecs that require commercial license. This makes the device perfect for applications that can use high quality license free codecs such as Ogg Vorbis. In addition, due to the large amount of user programmable RAM and data RAM and high performance stereo ADC and DAC, the devices can be tailored for various DSP applications. Such are for instance audio effect processing, equalization, echo cancellation and adaptive noise reduction. Since the device supports true slave operation and digital sample rate conversion it is a good candidate for various audio accessories such as Ipod docking stations.
